Two India-origin women make it to Forbes’ self-made richest women in US’ list

CEO of Arista Networks Jayshree Ullal is ranked 30th and Co-founder of IT consulting and outsourcing firm Syntel Neerja Sethi is ranked 16th in the list.

New York, June 3 (UITV)- Two India-origin women have made it to Forbes’ annual list of America’s 60 wealthiest and most successful self-made women entrepreneurs who have “crashed ceilings through invention and innovation”.

India-born Neerja Sethi, with a net worth of USD 1.1 billion, has been ranked 16th on the list of the most successful self-made women in the US while London born Jayshree Ullal comes in at the 30th spot with USD 470 million net worth.

The second annual tally of America’s wealthiest, most successful self-made women includes 60 trailblazers – 10 more than last year.

Neerja Sethi, 61, co-founded IT consulting and outsourcing company Syntel with her husband, Bharat Desai, in 1980. The mother of two is currently the vice president of corporate affairs, a role she has had since the company’s inception. She also sits on the board of directors alongside her husband, who remains the chairman.

Born in London, raised in New Delhi, Ullal became President and CEO of Arista Networks in 2008, a company that has emerged as one of Silicon Valley’s most valuable networking firms. Forbes said Ullal “is one of America’s wealthiest female executive.”

According to Forbes, the richest self-made woman in America is Diane Hendricks, the owner of ABC Supply, the largest wholesale distributor of roofing and siding in the country. Hendricks is now worth USD 4.9 billion.

Facebook’s chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg’s fortune is now USD 1.4 billion, up a third from a year ago making her one of the year’s biggest gainers.
