Prime Minister Narendra Modi to engage with Indian Diaspora on three-nation tour

New Delhi, March 30 (UITV)- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave for the Belgium as part of the three-nation visit during which he will attend the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington and visit Saudi Arabia.

This visit will be to highlight the importance of the diaspora element in the Modi government’s foreign policy and to engage with people who Modi had described as India’s “blood brothers and sisters.”

The India-EU Summit is aimed to deepening the strategic partnership between India and Belgium. Today, in Brussels, PM Modi will meet top businessmen, including a delegation of diamond traders. Modi will also address the Indian diaspora and try to connect India with its diaspora.

“The attack in Brussels, of course, will be very important part of the discussion. In fact it will be the starting point of the talks,” Joint Secretary (Europe) Nandini Singla, told reporters.

From Brussels, Modi will leave for Washington to attend Nuclear Security Summit, where he will be making some specific announcements and proposals with regard to nuclear security. Prime Minister Modi will also expect to find time to engage with Indian community in Washington.

From Washington, Modi will travel to Saudi Arabia on April 2 for a two-day visit at the invitation of Saudi Arabian King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.

Saudi Arabia has about 2.9 million Indian nationals – one of the largest Indian diaspora anywhere in the world.

In Riyadh, Modi will interact with Indian community and visit a BPO run by Tata Consultancy Services, which employs 60 per cent of the Saudi women. Modi will also meet Indian workers of the engineering major L&T who are working on the Riyadh metro.
