Mahabaleshwar: Queen of hill stations in Maharashtra

Mahabaleshwar, June 2 (UITV) - Mahabaleshwar is a town in Maharastra state famous for its lovely hill station and is situated in the Satara district. The hill station is at an elevation of 1,353 meters above the mean sea level in the western ghats and is among the top-visited places in Maharashtra. The place is the source of the famous Krishna river that flows through Maharashtra,  Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh and joins the Bay of Bengal, hence the place is a pilgrimage for Hindus. The rivers Koyna, Venna, and Gayatri are the tributaries of river Krishna.

The climate in the region of Mahabaleshwar is best suitable for the cultivation of strawberries and it accounts for 85% of strawberry production in India. It receives heavy rainfall in the monsoon seasons. Continuous rainfall up to 12 days has been observed previously and the place attracts a large number of tourists for its sloppy hills and beautiful views.  The tourist attractions in Mahabaleshwar are temples, forts, lakes, waterfalls, and cultivations. Important tourist spots are Mahabaleshwar Temple, Lingamala Falls, Pratapgarh Fort, Venna Lake, Krishnabai Temple, Tapola, and Panchgani. Mahabaleshwar has been ruled by several dynasties.
