Indian-origin youth leader Sanam Arora honored for work in community services

London, Feb 19 (UITV)- Sanam Arora, Presidents of the National Indian Students and Alumni Union UK was awarded by Dr Virander Paul, Deputy High Commissioner of India in UK, for her work in community services.

The award was instituted by Bedford Indian Organization to honor people of Indian-origin for their community services.

Indian and south-east Asian organizations at more major UK universities are affiliated to NISU UK.

By developing a network of young leaders, she via NISU UK is committing the youth to contribute towards the Indian economy, society and technological advancement as well as been able to foster a bond between Indian diaspora and India.

“It was a wonderful surprise as the Deputy High Commissioner of India bestowed on me an award for community service at the iconic India House. It’s not an award for me, it’s an award for my most wonderful and committed team of NISAU who are so dedicated to the cause of India. I love you guys,” said Arora, after receiving the award.

She has represented the British Indian diaspora at various governmental and non-governmental forums including the flagship diaspora event organized by the Indian government – Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2015 – where she was one of the only five speakers selected from the UK.

She is currently holding a position of Co-Chair of Youth Council, The Global Organization of People of Indian origin working for the interests of students and Youth of the Indian diaspora.
