Barack Obama endorses Raja Krishnamoorthi in Congressional bid

President of Sivananthan Labs and Episolar, Inc Delhi born Raja Krishnamoorthi has won Democratic Congressional Primary in Chicago

Chicago, June 14 (UITV)- President Barack Obama has boosted the front-runner status of Raja Krishnamoorthi, an Indian-American candidate for the U.S. Congress from Illinois’s District 8, in the November 8 general election.

Raja, a Democratic nominee, is in this year’s open-seat race in the constituency which includes west and northwest Chicago suburbs. He has already elicited support from number of Federal, State and local level leasers besides massive support from Indians, Pakistanis and Bangaldeshi voters in the area.

“As the son of immigrants who worked their way into the middle-class, Raja understands both the challenges facing America’s working families and the opportunities their way makes possible,” President Obama said in a statement the White House sent to Krishnamoorthi. “I know he will fight hard in the Congress to create good jobs, empower more Americans to start businesses, and help working families afford to put their children into college,” the President added.

Raja served Obama as issues director in the President’s successful U.S. Senate campaign in 2004when Raja helped shape policy proposals that Obama embarked on in federal office. In 2006, he was appointed by Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan as a Special Assistant Attorney General in her public integrity unit and he served as the member of the Illinois Housing Development Authority.

“I am honored and humbled to have the support of President Obama in my race for Congress,” Raja said of the endorsement. “We need people in Congress who understand the opportunities provided by the new economy and how to make sure more Americans are prepared to seize them,” the Indian American candidate said in a press release.

Grew up in Peoria, Illinois, Raja is running for Congress to stand up for middle class families and fight against attempts by House Republicans to cut Social Security and Medicare that are benefits his parents and millions of other Americans rely on.
